Tentative Material Action
In Pressed Contact
Tentative material action
These objects all in isolation occupy a series of actions imposed upon them.
Actions of holding, containment, and pressure; the bodies considered here are activated by their function, by their shared action, and through the life cycle they are subject to.
The work is framed within the language of the bodily, drawing the object bodies through a constructed aging process. The bodies are grown from actions of touch between different material languages, the synthetic materials themselves, the body of the artist, and the body of the site.
These permeable interactions forming inorganic skins which have been forced into positions of holding in order to pose the same experience of action with various synthetic material states within a subsistent framework.
These choices are made in the construction of a microcosm of controlled matter in order to question our relationship to material bodies, and how we perceive objects that operate on the borderlines of organic and synthetic materiality.
Pressure of its intention is found in each individual action.
One, the action of containment, undergone by two of the objects,
Two, embodying the action of grasping,
One, the body imprint left behind.
