Bio
Theo Hynan-Ratcliffe is an art writer and sculptor based between Limerick and Glasgow. She studied Sculpture & Combined Media in Limerick School of Art & Design and since then has practiced as a critical and creative writer and works as Co Founder and Director of Miscreating Sculpture Studios. She is also currently undertaking a masters in Art Writing with Glasgow School of Art.
Her work poses questions of mortal or vital properties of synthetic materials. The material language of the practice centres on the crystallization process of Iron Sulphate, and a synthetic growth process developed by the artist, to construct non-organic bodily attributes performing object. This works in tandem with the development of a research/textual praxis of creative, academic, and responsive writing, exploring the re-imagined borders of materiality constructed for the digital material era.
